Steamed Brown bread
1 c sifted all- purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 c corm meal
1 c whole- wheat flour
3/4 c dark molasses
2 cps buttermilk
1 c seedless raisins
Sift white flour with baking powder, soda, and salt
Add corn meal and whole wheat flour
Add remaining ingredients and beat well
Half fill 3 greased 1 pound coffee cans
Cover tightly and steam 3 hours on rack in large covered pot, using small amount of boiling water
Uncover cans and place in very hot oven (450 degrees) 5 minutes,
remove bread from cans
